Thanks for the memories Prison Break

One of my favorite shows ever, Prison Break, has gone away for good. And what a ride it's been. I'll never forget how compelled I was by the first season. I totally fell in love with the story and all of the well-fleshed-out characters inside Fox River, even with the weirdness and over the top things of it. There's not been any other show without "real" Sci-Fi elements or supernatural plots as crazy as this one. This show was truly awesome and T-Bag was one of the best villains I'd ever seen. Sure, there's been plenty of ups and downs along the way, and maybe they did run out of story after a while, but, all in all, it's been a blast. It's been a long time since we've seen a show this fun, and I'm really going to miss it. In it's heydey, it was like seeing a summer blockbuster action flick once a week on free TV.

The only thing I hated about PB was the way they screwed over characters. Sarah (from innocent and witty to annoying and souless), T-Bag (from cold hearted badass to sheep dog), Belick (from tough brute to weak and cowardly) and now Mahone. Character development... call it character deterioration. I mean WTF happened to Mahone's riddle solving ability? In season 2, it was a battle of wits between Micheal and Mahone. Cat and mouse. The whole premise was about who could out-think the other. Cop or fugitive? Now Mahone's character is just there for his muscle ability. He seems unable to bring anything constructive in planning a next move and unable to figure out anything. Then again, Mahone seemed to have lost his super intelligence when he cut the drugs. I guess the pills had the power.

Then again Mahone did figure out the photoshopped picture while Linc went LINCOLN NO SMASH PICTURE! CAR WRONG DATE! Seriously, Linc's Mom left that for him to figure out? Has she MET Lincoln?

So long, Prison Break. Thanks for the memories and I'll miss the cliffhangers, weird twists after more stupid twists, plotholes, triplecrossing, triple-agents, no bad nor good characters, break-in's and break-outs from everywhere.

Prison Break S04 E23 & E24 The Final Break

 Plot

Michael and Sara get married, but during the celebration, Sara gets arrested and put into a prison because there's no space in jail. The General and T-Bag are in prison together and General finds out Sara is in prison and puts a hit out on her. Meanwhile, there's lots of lame prison feuds similar to Michael in S1. Mahone is hired by FBI to find out what Michael has planned as Michael's first plan was sabatoged by Mahone. His next plan was to PARACHUTE into the prison and somehow break her out, but Mahone switches and helps Michael turn this plan better. Michael and Sara then meet in a chapel on the grounds and go to an underground route. Michael is then forced to unplug the power in the prison and short the electricity, killing himself in the process. Everyone gets away. Michael makes a video for Sara and Lincoln that ends the show in a nice way and T-Bag's ending up in solitary was pretty hilarious.

Thoughts

Why would they air it in Israel first? Anyways, The Final Break was way better than the Series Finale as it felt like Season One again as they kept it simple with no mass conspiracies. Just the basic plot of getting Sara out. And for the first time Sara was not useless and boring, but actually the center of the plot and SWC was way better than usual. The special went from "WTF they can't be serious", to a good conclusion as the ending was far sadder than the Finale. I admit, there was a lump in my throat at the end.

Prison Break Season 4 Finale

"Can I Keep the pen?" Gotta love Sucre.

Well that was a bit anticlimatic. I feel like Homer Simpson talking about "neat little packages". So they gave Mike the surgery... the same surgery his mom got and she was fine for all those years. It's appropriate for Prison Break to end on a Shark Jump, it really is. They really should've killed Michael in a blaze of glory.

Speaking of which, seemed odd that no one got to go out in a blaze of glory, even T-Bag survived, which made no sense. Oh, and Kellerman comes back but he doesn't get an action scene? Should have been him breaking through the window to save everyone from the General.

I guess Kellerman could still be a congressman having done those things since no one knows about them. It's not like he admitted in open court that he committed murders.... oh wait. Though, nice callback when Hale's wife spat at him.

I also liked all of the other homages to the original season: the swan on the grave, the tattoo on Michael's son, the quote on the gravestone, the pocket thing from T-Bag and the talk of the initial prison break on the radio.

Anyways, good conclusion to everybody's story, but a terrible lead-up to the conclusion. 4 years later and no one has aged? Excellent.

And what the hell is up with Self? After all his badassery and awesome one-liners, he ends up being a vegetable? And Mahone hooking up with his partner who looks like a dude, despite pining for Pam all season. And it's also nice how Sucre remains a true friend to Michael... except for when he abruptly up and left earlier in Season 4 for no reason. And where did they find 2 Identical Scylla briefcases? Do stores sell small briefcases that houses a one of a kind most important piece of technology in the world?

I'm surprised - Entertainment Weekly and TVGuide have been pretty damned positive about the show's finale. EW gave it a B, TV Guide has just been praising it in general. This is after they've hated the show for quite a bit.

And incase you missed it, April 2005 was when Michael was sent to prison, and he died in November 2005, so the entire series took place in 7 months. I realize it wasn't taking place over 4 years; but 7 months seems ridiculous. And since it was suppose to be set in 2005, when T-Bag worked as Cole Fifer at Gate, he had an aluminum Mac on his desk, which did not exist in 2005. Was it sent back in time to T-bag? Or did he have an early prototype?

I also liked how Sucre got a haircut between being at General's and getting arrested.

Oh, and 'He Broke out of prison a lot' should've been etched into Michael's tombstone.

Prison Break: The Final Break

This will be out on DVD on July 21.

Minor spoilers are in this description so be warned:

Michael, Lincoln, Sara and co may have removed the thorn in their side, the Company, but happiness is short-lived. The two- hour action spectacular begins with a trip down the aisle as Michael and a heavily pregnant Sara tie the knot. As ever, Lady Luck holds the lovebirds in disregard, and the newlyweds have no time to enjoy the delights of marital bliss. Michael is forced to cancel any honeymoon plans when Sara is arrested for the murder of mother from hell Christina Scofield and, without so much as a trial, sent to Miami-Dade Women's Prison, where the Doc is reunited with a familiar, but hardly friendly face. Meanwhile, Krantz isn't adapting to his abode, Miami-Dade Men's Prison, but his mood soon brightens when he finds out about Sara's predicament. Krantz decides to while his hours of incarceration by plotting her demise, putting a mark on head for the princely sum of $100,000. Wicked word soon reaches Miami-Dade Women's Prison, and a vulnerable Sara must fight for survival. In a fitting farewell that ensures the show flies the coop on the headiest of highs, Michael and friends reunite to break Sara out.

Sounds kind of stupid to be honest.
